Submission Guidelines for Atrium Press
Thank you for your interest in submitting to Atrium Press. We are a small independent press
dedicated to producing high-quality chapbooks in poetry, short fiction, and creative nonfiction.
Please carefully review the following guidelines before submitting your work.
What We Publish:
- Poetry (15-30 pages)
- Short fiction (any number of short stories, totaling 25-50 pages)
- Creative nonfiction (essays, memoir, or experimental nonfiction, 25-50 pages)
- Translations in any of the above genres
- Excerpts from longer works, if they can stand alone as a cohesive piece
Submission Requirements:
- Manuscripts should be formatted as a single Word document (.doc or .docx) or PDF.
- Include a title page with your name, contact information, and manuscript title.
- A one-page cover letter including a brief bio and a summary of your work’s themes is
encouraged but not required.
- We accept simultaneous submissions, but please notify us immediately if your work is accepted
elsewhere.
- Previously published individual pieces are acceptable if you hold the rights, but the
manuscript as a whole should be unpublished.
How to Submit:
- Send your manuscript via email to [email protected] with the subject line:
"[Genre] Submission – [Your Name]" (e.g., "Poetry Submission – Jane
Doe"). - We accept submissions on a rolling basis or during specific reading periods announced on our
website.
- There is no submission fee.
Response Time & Selection Process:
- We aim to respond within 2-4 months.
- Selected works will be published as limited-edition chapbooks in print.
- If your manuscript is accepted, we will provide editorial feedback and work closely with you
through the production process.
Rights & Compensation:
- Authors retain full copyright to their work.
- We offer a small honorarium and contributor copies as compensation.
- Additional royalties or profit-sharing terms will be discussed upon acceptance.
